Here goes another yr...

The last day of 2006. Personally, it’s been a long year for me. The year we’ve graduated. The year we had to say our goodbyes to our college. The year we all ‘grew up’ n started working. The year I had to face some of the toughest exams of my life. The year I said goodbye to a lot of my friends leaving this city. The year I was, for the first time in my life, jobless n felt jobless. It’s time to say goodbye to 2006.

It’s not just about remembering what happened in the previous year. It’s also about learning from those experiences.

It’s not just about counting down to midnight n cheering the arrival of the New Year. It’s also about being happy that you’re with the ppl u care about n celebrating the moment with them.

It’s not just about forwarding greetings and sms’s of New Year wishes to everybody in your phone book. It’s about remembering each one of them n sending them your wishes of a good year ahead.

It's not just about going out n spending money to celebrate the event. It's also bout making sure you're really having fun.

It’s not just about drinking n driving recklessly assuming it to be the way to have real fun. It’s also about coming back home safely to start a fresh year.

It’s not just about reading this post n getting back to your lives. It’s also about wishing me back !

Dennis., the innocent menace...

So., there's this kid., 4 yrs old. Naughty, active, running around the house n touching stuff he shouldn't be doing and touching stuff he should't be touching. All part of the learning process right ? Right.

Now, he goes into the balcony of the apartments where there are a whole lot of pigeons. He sees two pigeon eggs on an old cardboard box. He's never allowed to touch eggs at home coz he's just a kid. He sees the oppurtunity n gets them inside the house. Grandpa asks the kid what he's hiding in his hands. Kid refuses to show. Grandpa somehow manages to see. Kid gets tensed n crushes one egg in his hand. Grandma throws away the egg instead of putting it back where it belongs coz of the stupid notion that the pigeon won't accept it.

Two lives lost. All charecters from my family. Sad, very sad. N the worst part is that this incident is being told to everybody n has become a matter of discussion for family members n they end up laughing about how cute the kid is.

Kids are innocent alrite., what are parents for ?

Am I the bad guy !?

Is it really ever gonna be possible that a normal guy like me on any normal day, while walking on any normal road or while travelling on normal public transport like a train or a bus, sees a normal girl and give her a casual smile and get away without getting back a disgusted look and in some cases ., curses ? From my experience of 22 years.. I guess not.

Girls just have these pre-concieved notion that any guy who does that is trying to hit on her., or in our own style., trying to 'patafy' her. Please open your minds.... this 'line marofying' and 'patafying' is not on every guys mind. This is the best n worst case of stereotyping any group of people can ever face.

Here's my personal experience. Sick of riding my bike in the rush hour traffic, I recently travelled by a bus which was more stuffed than the lovely big kachoris that i get beside my house., which was when i realised that there's nothing more I love than ridin' my bike.

Anyways., I was sitting right in front of the backdoor and was just tired n bored sitting there. So I looked around and saw a girl way over in the front of the bus. She waved at me n pointed at her watch. I just kept a straight face n turned away. I'm a decent but curious guy., So I looked at her again n she smiled at me n I thought.. 'what the heck., I donno her., was she 4m my school ? college ? orkut ?.. na., i really don't know her'. I thought 4 a min n turned back n saw nobody who could possibly be communicating with her. Is this girl flirting with me in public !? Am I really that irresistable ? Coz I DO use AXE. But AXE effect all the way from the back of the bus to the front ? Wow ! Talk about value for money !

She kept staring at me continiously n me., somebody who's not used to being stared at by strange women was feeling uncomfy. But I kept a stiff face like I would when my dad would notice the 50 Rs note missing in his pocket and ask me about it. After a few stops with all this., the girl got down and I wanted to see what's the deal with her. So I started staring at her n then what happens, a good looking guy gets down from the bus n walks up to her beside the window i'm sitting at n says " I think we're pretty late for the movie, damn bus". The girl then whispers something to this guy n they both gimme the sickest look I ever got.

See what happens for being nice n not say anything back to her? Who started it !? This is just one of the many examples that I know where we guys have been misunderstood by the other now not-so-fairer sex.

There's one thing I wanna make clear. This is not meant to be a girl bashing post., not in any way. Just wanted to tell all the girls who have this 'impression' about guys being no good living beings that you have to bear with everyday. C'MON ! Open your minds n eyes about this ! There are good guys n not so good guys but it's also the same with girls. There are not so decent girls out there too n quite a lot of them ! You would want to stay away from 'bad ppl' not 'bad guys'. Next time a guy smiles at you, you need not necessarily smile back, but just take a moment before you curse him straightaway.

One Psychotic Rambling noticed...

Vulturo.. a blogger and a contributor at the popular Desipundit group blog has written a post on his blog titled "The Bane of Blogging". It's a good post., he's written about how 'crapblogging' is 'misusing' the resources of the blogging world. I understand that everybody's entitled to their opinion n he., to his.. but so do I.

I am not sure I will agree with his labelling of most of the personal blogs, if not all, as 'crapblogs'. That's a heavy label he's using for something that doesn't suit his personal taste. A blog is basically a journal written in reverse chronological order. Many blogs are about politics, technology, travel, fashion and some eclectic. But nobody ever defined it to be limited to just those. A journal can also be a diary and many bloggers use blogs for just that. isn't calling somebody's diary crap kind of rude ??? But hey.. I guess everybody's entitled to their own opinion.

To compare someone's personal journal as crap is almost like insulting their personal lives. Some people like to live their lives in the shadows., some like to share it with their close circle of friends and family and some like to put it online. Some find it comfortable to speak their hearts out on their blog as they don't have people around them that really listen to them. Some people blog expecting people to find other people with similar interests or lifestyles that they can relate to. Some people blog looking for advice or comfort in a stranger than none in their lives could offer. If personal interaction between bloggers and readers is silly or almost 'lowlife' as it sounds in this post., internet can get as cold and robotic as it can be. But hey.. everybody's entitled to their own opinion.

"Two or three paragraphs of text containing the above mentioned traits is bound to drive a guy like me crazy". That is enough to say that not everybody is a 'guy like him' n there are millions more who're not 'guys like him'. But hey.. everybody's entitled to their own opinion.

I agree that there are a few blogs which use too much of sms slang and other weird lingo. The majority don't. Even though the form of writing doesn't comply with all the rules of grammer and punctuation, it gets the point accross and without feeling like you've just been through a school textbook. Just like many of us don't like to speak formally to our friends as if to our boss or school principal, it is the same for blogs. Bloggers aren't really writing an english exam or care about anybody judging them for their grammer or punctuation. They just don't care. But hey.. everybody's entitled to their own opinion.

As far as comments go.. personal bloggers don't care about the comment count. If they find what they're waiting to hear in their comments., even if it's single digit comments, it makes their day. How ? Not everybody will understand. But hey.. everybody's entitled to their own opinion.

Not everybody is intellectually brilliant or can speak out on social issues with finnese. Not everybody searches the internet or the news papers on what has happened where and how is going to affect the Economy or social stability of the country or anything like that. Why ? May be it's boring, may be their interests lie somewhere else, may be they feel that that is a misuse of blogging resources. But hey.. everybody's entitled to their own opinion.

The looks.. all I can say is 'Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder'. That statement's enough to say that not everybody's opinion about something they see is the same. If someone idolizes a wrestler or an actor., he will like to pin up their pictures on their walls or their blogs., someone might just want to put accross their attitude on their blogs throught the layout and many readers understand that. Guess where that leaves the plain looking blogs. Nothing against them, but unless u're already very famous, readers wont spare a second in moving to another page. But hey.. everybody's entitled to their own opinion.

This is not a hate post or something that I want to throw back at the blogger because of the slight twiching in my brain that he caused me., if we can call that anger. It's because everybody's entitled to their own opinion n so do I.

Just another day... NOT

Early in the morning.., about 8 am., I was having a nice dream., a senti dream about ppl from my extended family who in reality lack senti emotions. As they say... most dreams are unreal ! Anyways., i was still in that dream when suddenly everything went blank and i saw sparks and then some sensation in my left hand. The prev nite I was up pretty late and didnt have the patience to clean up my bed., so i slept on a matress on the floor beside the door. When i wake up., i see the door crushing my finger ! Ooooouch ! Actually.. in my very own words., i said (or howled ) somethin like "Aaaoooooww... Aaarrrggghh !!". What a way to wake up !

The rest of the day's the usual.. blah blah blah ( not worth mention here )., but in the evening., I planned to go to the newly opened McDonalds with my friends and as usual our plan got delayed by about 2 hours. Finally we made it there and we tried out stuff like a Veggie burger (that looked like it was beaten up)., paneer Mcpuff( almost suicidal crumbly)., Coke n an icecream ( yummy ). After we gobbled up all of that.. i'd still give my vote to my regular eat-out place. But ye., the coke n icecream were good !

I had to drop off a college application before 9 in the night and I reached the courier at 9:15.. the good guys there still accepted it and after thanking them I came home. Wiping out my sweat in the elevator., i check my pocket n what do I see.. the Demand Draft that's supposed to be in the envelope is in my back pocket ! No magic tricks here... it was just silly me ! I rushed back n put the DD back in the envelope n had my dinner n rest in peace... i mean.., umm.., slept well.

High Season for weddings...,

36000 weddings to take place on one day this december in Delhi !!! This new's has been all over the net.. different sites report different dates ( all sundays though ) .. different numbers but this is the most popular. Whatever the number.. it's a titanic number of wedding celebrations !

It's simple maths., 36000 weddings = 72000 people ! That multiplied by atleast a minimum of 100 guests each ( and max can reach upto anywhere )., 36000 multiplied by tens of kilos of food adds upto lakhs of kilos of food cooked on that occassion. Not sure if Delhi has so many pandits and mandaps. I wonder if people would like to share ? Tons of flowers and decorations.., thousands worth of gifts., roads full with baarats., the atmosphere filled with the sound of crackers and the aroma of cooked food and the perfumes of guests and relatives.

This is one mega celebration for delhi ! Sad that I don't know even one of those 36000 couples ! Damn ! Missed out on some good food ... but anyways., wish them all a happy married life ! One can only imagine the love in the air in delhi on the first night ! Phew !

The news.

7 Reasons Why Personal Blogs Rock

Darren Rowse from Problogger ( one of my fav blogs ) has this post on his blog. It's more about 'how personal blogging in his intial years has helped him become a better pro-blogger now', than on 'why personal blogs rock'. But still, he's got good 7 points that i totally agree on.

The seven points being :
1. teach you the skills of blogging
2. familiarize you with the tools of blogging
3. help you work out how much time you have
4. help you work out if you can sustain blogging for the long term
5. give you a taste of blogging ‘culture’
6. help you define a niche
7. help you find a readership

One can also look at the above points this way., u can kind of do a self analysis of how much u've developed since u've started blogging and also how much longer can u keep going by asking urselves questions related to the above 7 points. If you seem to be getting positive answers for all those and if u can tell yourself that you are really enjoying blogging and not doing it just 4 the heck of it..,then u got good news.. u still got a long way to go before you think of shutting down your blog !

Here are also a few good posts that i'd like to share with you guys...

and so on.....

You can read lots more here .

Yeh.., please come in... feel free to look around...

That is wat we said to a thief. Yup ! A thief. I dont remember the exact date... but I guess it was on the 27th of November and it was just like any other day. Lazy., warm and boring. The bell rings and I open the door and there's this tall., fair., nicely dressed guy outside who introduces himself as a plumber working on some work and looking 4 a few extra rupess. I thought that guy must be a model even with that tool in hand.

I go inside to ask my parents if they called the plumber n the guy walks in behind me n doesnt stop even when i ask him to. Then I have to size him up ( I'm 6 feet tall... thank u ) n ask him to stop there., but he's already inside. My parents are unaware of this n come out to find out wat's going on.

My dad's excited that a plumber has walked in on his own coz there r some taps that need repair n he shows him the taps and the audacity of the bastard that he walks into the two bedrooms., checks out everything n says that he mistook them for bathrooms. Does anybody have 4 bathrooms in the house !? I had my doubts on him from the moment i saw the wrench in his hand... but my dad immediately took out money 4m his pocket n pays him ! Even b4 he did the work. The thief promises to come back with the required material but obviously he never did. we later know that he's got away with money from about 6 apartments in our building.

Y I am writing this is coz of the following two reasons. One.. coz this is my blog and second I wanna warn you of such situations where u shudnt trust just anybody coz if we weren't all at home then and considering the fact that he was a strong guy with a wrench in his hand things could have got a lot worse. When things are so bad that u can't trust ppl u know a 100 %.. u gotto be extra careful with ppl u donno.

I'm sure many of u must have seen these already ... these pics have been makin rounds in the mails 4 quite sometime.., here are two of my fav ones....
